Olympians who found MMA
Olympians are the pinnacle of achievement and perseverance. For some, that is not enough. Truly competitive people tend to push the limits of their body's. SILVER MEDALISTS
2016: Mark Madsen
SILVER MEDAL, Greco-Roman wrestling
Madsen is the UFC fighter who won the silver medal in Greco-Roman wrestling at the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil. He has also won many medals in the World and European wrestling contests. Even though he is yet to win titles in MMA, Madsen is already a huge star in his native Denmark.
2000: Matt Lindland
SILVER MEDAL, Greco Roman Wrestling
In his prime, Lindland was a very skilled fighter who beat some big names like Pat Miletich and went toe to toe with Rampage Jackson. But he is, perhaps, even more, famous for winning the Olympic silver medal in wrestling in 2000.
Lindland made his UFC debut a couple of months after the Olympics. Right away, he was able to go on a four-fight win streak, out of which two were finishes. This secured him a shot at the UFC’s 185lbs title, which he failed to win by losing to Murilo Bustamante.
2000: Yoel Romero
SILVER MEDAL, Freestyle Wrestling
Yoel Romero Palacio is a Cuban professional mixed martial artist and former freestyle wrestler. He currently competes in the Light Heavyweight division for Bellator MMA. He did see success in the UFC early on in his career.

2004: Sara McMann
SILVER MEDAL, Freestyle Wrestling
Sara McMann is an American female mixed martial artist currently signed to Bellator MMA, competing in the Women's Featherweight division. McMann is a former Olympic wrestler and received a silver medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece and was a World Silver Medalist and 2-time Bronze Medalist. She would then transition to MMA, most notably competing in the bantamweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

1992 Naoya Ogawa
SILVER MEDAL, Judo
One of the most popular fighters in Japan, Ogawa struggled to find MMA success. He beat Gary Goodridge in a controversial match tainted by allegations that it was fixed and lost famously to the great Fedor Emelianenko. Match with fellow judoka Hidehiko Yoshida among the most watched combat sports bouts of all-time.
